The builders of the Republic of Turkey in the first five months of 2023, according to their profile, performed work outside the country in the amount of $6.5 billion.
According to the calculations of the Anadolu agency (based on data provided by the Ministry of Commerce), from 1972 to the end of May, 11,745 successfully implemented cases in 133 countries, totaling $479.5, were recorded in the construction sector - namely in the segment of international contracts.
In 2020 alone, the sector received a total of 371 jobs, which replenished the mentioned amount by $16.2 billion. And this is despite the tangible political instability, cyclical problems and the consequences of the pandemic, not only in Turkey, but also in the states on whose territory construction was carried out.
In 2021, as the negative impact of the pandemic on the global economy decreased, the total cost of projects implemented by Turkish companies abroad increased to $30.7 billion; this year, according to statistics, 443 projects were implemented.
In addition, the "outbound" contracting sector spent 2022 in the shadow of global economic problems and the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Nevertheless, over the past year, the number of projects implemented by the sector amounted to 492, and their total cost was $19.1 billion. The average cost of the project implemented in those 12 months was $38.8 million.
Well, in January-May of this year, 96 projects have already been implemented in the sector, with a total cost of 6 billion 459 million 199 thousand dollars. Their average cost for the first 5 months of the year increased, reaching $67.2 million.
As for the countries where construction is underway, Russia and Turkmenistan are among the leaders. The Russian Federation accounts for 20.4% of foreign projects since 1972; Turkmenistan - 10.6%. The markets of Iraq (6.9%), Saudi Arabia (5.2%), Libya and Kazakhstan are also significant for Turkish developers.
