Despite the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, sales of residential real estate in Turkey to foreigners have increased, says the Emlak Kulisi newspaper. So in September, foreigners from different countries bought 5,269 apartments and houses in Turkey (26 percent more than in September 2019). In nine months of 2020, foreigners bought 26,165 housing objects in Turkey.
In which regions did apartments rise in price the most? According to the online real estate appraisal platform Endeksacom, the largest increase in housing prices was recorded in the province of Antalya: apartments rose by 38 percent there over the year.
In 2019, foreigners bought 45,483 real estate objects in Turkey. 2020 started with a considerably high level of sales (3,907 properties sold in January, 4,005 properties sold in February and 3,023 properties sold in March). However, in April 2020, due to the coronavirus outbreak, apartment sales in Turkey to foreigners fell to 790 properties, and only 860 properties were sold in May. In June, sales began growing again: 1,664 objects were sold in June, in July - 2,741 objects, in August - 3,893 objects.
