The construction sector in Turkey is the only industry that is currently increasing the number of employees in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), as of July 2020, the number of people employed in the construction sector increased by 114,000 people (or 7.3 percent excluding seasonal fluctuations) compared to the results of July 2019. Thus, 1,669,000 people are legally employed in the Turkey's construction sector. The share of construction in Turkey's total employment is 6.1 percent.

According to Emlak Kulisi, a construction and real estate newspaper in Turkey, an increase in the sector by 111,000 people (taking into account seasonal fluctuations) was observed in the last quarter of 2020, and the growth in the previous three quarters amounted to a total of 373,000 people. These results show that Turkey's construction sites are back on track as they are coping with the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.
