The key reason, according to respondents, is «the inability to find an apartment or a house at an adequate price» (53% of respondents mentioned this). Which is not surprising: even in Istanbul, house prices for sale are rising much faster than rental rates. Another 38% complained that they could not find housing with the criteria that suit them.
Also, as Emlakjet found out during the analysis of the results obtained in September 2022, 20% of those who were looking for housing for rent, first looked for a suitable lot to buy it. And only then switched to eating.
Recall that the growth of rental rates and the imbalance of supply and demand became a serious problem more than a year ago: since the second half of 2021. But it is not easy for those focused on buying housing: a noticeable increase in prices in this segment, plus a reduction in the housing stock («free» apartments and houses in the assortment offered today) have become serious problems for those who are looking for real estate to purchase it.
