In his recent statement, the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum said that the target by 2030 is 2 million residences belonging to the category of social housing and built with the help of TOKI.
In 2022, the minister said, the housing sector very often came to the fore on the agenda. In particular, such hot topics as the rapid rise in prices, rents, the process of urban transformation, preferential housing.
A few months ago, a project launched on a truly historic scale – "My first Home, my first workplace" - has now offered 250,000 residences, hundreds of thousands of land plots and 10,000 jobs to low-income citizens. The sweepstakes in the largest cities have started successfully. It was announced that the second important step of this program will be a special campaign aimed at middle-income people.
At the moment, more than 5 million applications for social housing have been accepted under the program. 50 thousand of the first lucky ones – future owners of preferential residences – have already been identified.
In total, for the period 2023-2028, according to the Ministry, half a million social residences, a million land plots and 50 thousand jobs will be offered to citizens on the territory of 81 provinces. "We will build social housing until there is not a single low-income citizen who does not have his own residence," the minister assured. Which, according to market analysts, will also significantly reduce rents by reducing competition, because many tenants will move to the "camp" of owners.
TOKI also assured that foreigners do not apply for preferential residences, and thus will not "take away bread" from local residents.
