The Turkish authorities have launched the process of the country's transition to domestic production of construction and finishing materials. It was decided to take these measures in order to reduce the cost of real estate in Turkey and to support its producers. While Turkish building materials are exported to more than a hundred countries around the world (and the demand is constantly growing), the country's domestic market most often gives preference to imported goods. The plans of the Turkish authorities are to fully meet the domestic needs of the market, as well as to at least quadruple the volume of Turkish-made construction and finishing materials sold abroad. Experts predict that the transition to domestic building materials will reduce construction costs by 15-20 percent.
Turkish finishing and building materials are in the TOP-10 of the world export rating and provide almost a third of the total Turkish exports. Today Turkey annually sells construction materials abroad for more than $22 billion.
Imports of building materials in 2018 exceeded $8 billion, and in 2019 dropped to $6 billion.
