The growth of rental rates continues; the cost of moving is also increasing. People began to move much more often. This can be said to be one of the key trends of 2022: many leave the center and move to the outskirts in search of cheaper apartments, or even leave one city and pick up a residence in another.
In connection with such forced «internal migration», the Turkish authorities decided to ease the financial burden for those whose lives were affected by the problem of relocation and support homeowners who provide apartments to newly moving renters as part of a project to overhaul an outdated fund (when people need to be relocated for a while from houses to be strengthened).
According to the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum, from 2023 the minimum amount allocated for «rent support» will be increased to 1,000 Turkish lira (TL).
Moving tenants who are evicted from their former homes (houses that are transferred to the city for the transformation program) will be allocated from 5,500 to 7,500 TL, depending on the province. For example, in the provinces of Adiyaman, Afyonkarakhisar, Agra, Chorum, Elazig, Kutakhya, Ordu, Sivas, Tokat, Zonguldak, Batman, Canakkale, 6,000 TL is paid for resettlement; in Adana, Antalya, Bursa and Konya – 7,000 TL; and the largest amount is intended for the largest megacities – Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir.
The amounts intended for payments are automatically credited to the accounts of the Ministry, and then transferred to citizens who have submitted the relevant applications and whose applications have been approved (through local government bodies).
Recall that at the moment there are several social programs in connection with the move. Thus, the poor will be offered not only budget options for apartments, but also preferential rent.
