Unclaimed Turkish offices will be turned into apartments

A number of offices are to be transformed into residential premises, according to Turkish media. This decision was made as part of a program to reduce the growth rate of real estate prices, for which it is necessary to replenish the «free housing stock» available to the local population.

At the same time, many offices are now idle unclaimed: they do not give up and cannot find a buyer. But this is about 1.5 million square meters in Istanbul alone, and in Turkey as a whole – about 4 million square meters.

They are going to turn them into housing. Thus, up to 10,000 new apartments will appear in the largest metropolis, and about 30,000 – throughout the country.

Those wishing to transfer their existing commercial real estate, such as jobs, to the housing stock should submit an appropriate application by July 1, 2023.

Another way to get a roof over your head in the absence of financial opportunity to purchase a house you like, but if you have a land plot, is to buy a «factory house»: such houses that have a minimum area are very inexpensive. Land can also be purchased as part of sales promotions, which are periodically carried out by both municipalities and banks, selling collateral.
