Summing up the results of 2022, the Turkish Institute of Statistics presented data, including on who buys residential real estate in Turkey more often: men or women. Comparing the figures with the previous year, 2021.
As it turned out, the percentage ratio in this sense has practically remained in 12 months: out of 100% of new homeowners in 2022, 32.6% were women, 55.3% were men; another 1.6% of residences - houses or apartments - were purchased in half. Well, the remaining 10.5% are other «layouts» of the owners: purchase for several people including children, shared ownership (including not only relatives), etc.
In 2021, the percentages were similar:
- women accounted for 34% of transactions;
- the share of men - 54.9% of transactions;
- for joint acquisitions - 1.9% of transactions;
- other cases - 9.2%.
But it should be noted that in previous years, women bought housing much less often: the number of contracts signed by women has increased by 47.6% over the past few years. And at the moment, almost every second TAPU (certificate of ownership) one way or another, a woman appears - as the sole owner or co-owner.
