The preferential program will be expanded to secondary real estate

There is good news for those who want to buy secondary real estate: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has officially announced plans to work on a new campaign for citizens who want to buy residential «second-hand».

Recall that the previous «rounds» of «My New Home» program - for low- and middle-income households - implied the purchase of housing in new buildings.

Now, despite the fact that priority is still given to those who purchase their first apartment, and in the «primary real estate» segment, preferential options are also possible when buying secondary real estate.

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum explained: «We should not expect anything in the very near future, however, we are already working to provide support to citizens in the segment of buying secondary housing over time».

The timing and details of the campaign for preferential lending when buying residential «second hand» have not yet been announced. It is expected that the details will be announced after the presidential elections, which are scheduled for May 14, 2023.

Recall that one of the goals of the Department of Mass Housing Construction is 2 million preferential residences by 2030. The first 50,000 owners of «social» residences were determined in mid-December 2022.
