Civil servants are compensated up to 25% of rent

The authorities have decided to provide financial support to civil servants, in the sense of providing them with partial compensation for rent. This has been discussed for a long time; now the criteria for the mentioned support have been announced.

The problem of rent has covered the whole country, and civil servants have suffered as well. Even despite the fact that homeowners often gave such tenants a clear preference: in some provinces, they cannot afford to rent a house and support a family on their salary.

And since workers from this category are regularly transferred by order "from above" from one province to another, the "expensive" provinces quickly gained notoriety and began to be considered such unofficial places of "exile": what is the joy of moving to a metropolis where almost all income will go to rent?

It began to get to the point that civil servants who did not want to transport their families to such places began to refuse appointments in these provinces, and if they were not allowed to choose another one, even quit.

So now civil servants will be compensated for part of the rent in a more structured way (this was done before, but the situation was different). The amount of compensation will be specified taking into account the province; that is, in such "expensive" provinces as Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Antalya and Mugla, the amount will be higher than in the "cheaper" ones. And it will not be equal to the rental price; most likely, the average amount of compensation will be up to 25%.

That is, if the average monthly rental fee is 6,000 Turkish lira (TL), a civil servant working in this province will be compensated for 1,500 TL.

It was also recently reported about the cancellation of lease payments for three months in the provinces affected by the February earthquake. Well, the authorities promised to stop the growth of rental rates after the second round of the presidential elections held on May 28, 2023; we'll wait and see.
