According to official TÜIK statistics, 83,636 housing units were sold in Turkey in June, which is 44.4% less than in June 2022.

Istanbul has the largest number of transactions, with 13,578 housing units sold, or 16.2% of total sales. Istanbul is followed by Ankara with 7,325 sales and a share of 8.8% and Antalya with 4,503 real estate sales and a share of 5.4% of total sales.

Ardahan (17), Hakkari (29), and Tunceli (44) were the provinces with the least number of homes sold in June.

The volume of transactions in January–June decreased by 22.1% compared to H1 2022 and amounted to 565,779 units.

Mortgage deals: 13,463

Residential mortgage sales in Turkey in June decreased by 66.8% compared to the same month last year and amounted to 13,463. The share of mortgage sales in the total volume of deals was 16.1%.

The volume of mortgage transactions in January–June fell by 28.6% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 121,530 units.

4,698 sales in June and 39,499 sales in the first half of the year in this segment were in new buildings.

Other transaction categories: 70,173

Non-mortgage home sales in June declined by 36.1% compared to the same month last year and were 70,173 units. The share of such transactions in total sales was 83.9%.

The volume of transactions in this segment between January and June decreased by 20.1% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 444,249 units.

Primary home sales: 25,886

Sales of residences in new buildings in June fell by 42.1% compared to the same month last year and were 25,886 units.

The share of primary real estate deals in total sales for the month was 31%. Sales of primary real estate housing in January–June declined by 17.9% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 171,158 units.

Secondary housing sales: 57,750

Secondary home sales in Turkey in June decreased by 45.4% compared to the same month in 2022 to 57,750 units. Secondary housing transactions accounted for 69% of total sales.

Secondary housing sales in January–June declined by 23.8% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 394,621 units.

Sales to foreign nationals: 2,625

Home sales to foreigners in June fell by 69.6% compared to the same month last year to 2,625 units. The share of home sales in June to overseas buyers amounted to 3.1% of total sales.

Antalya ranks first with 1,004 sales, Istanbul takes the second place with 760 sales, and Mersin is on the third place with 223 sales.

The volume of deals with foreign nationals for the first half of the year (January–June) fell by 45.5% compared to the same period last year. However, about 20,000 housing units were sold in the country, or more precisely 19,275.

Depending on the nationality of the buyers, the majority of transactions in June were concluded by citizens of the Russian Federation: 733 housing units. Russia is followed by Iran with 333 deals, Iraq with 175, and Ukraine with 168.
