For eight months of 2020, a record number of residential real estate was sold in Turkey - 1 million 24 thousand 534 objects. This is 42.6 percent more than in the same period (January to August) last year. Turkish home sales have surged despite the coronavirus pandemic. According to data published by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK), in 2019, 718,570 houses and apartments were sold in Turkey from January to August. This year, mortgage sales increased in 8 months by 263.7 percent and amounted to 473,114 objects. Market experts predict that the annual result for 2020 will be overall higher than the sales result for 2019.
According to the Hürriyet newspaper, April 2020 was the month when real estate sales in Turkey fell to 42,783 properties, in May they remained at the level of 50,000 properties. However, as early as June 2020, home sales skyrocketed thanks to the mortgage campaign. The June result is 190,000 objects, the July is 229,000 objects, the August is 170,408 objects.
