New public garden to be built in Ankara

The Ministry of Environment and Urban Development of Turkey has announced a tender for the creation of another public garden in Ankara. The new public space will occupy an area of 52 thousand square meters and will be one of the already opened public gardens - landscaped park areas in different parts of Turkey. Turkey is actively turning into a country of parks and gardens. In 2018, Erdogan promised his citizens that public gardens (vast green areas with landscape design and recreation infrastructure, with forest areas, bike paths, concert halls, picnic gazebos, sports and playgrounds in the bosom nature) would appear in every Turkish city.

On June 5, 2020, speaking at the opening ceremony of ten new public gardens, the President noted that step by step, Turkey is approaching its goal - to turn 81 million square meters of space into landscape parks in every Turkish province by 2023. Today Turkey has already 23 public gardens.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan: “When we came to power, we saw that our cities needed much larger, much more modern recreation areas. Public gardens are projects that we have designed in response to this public demand. In the new forest-park zones, city dwellers will be able to enjoy fresh air, cycle and rest from the hustle and bustle of big cities in the woodlands."

According to the official news, the new public garden in Ankara will be a vast park area, harmoniously intertwined with urban development: with walking paths, places for family recreation and picnics, playgrounds and sports grounds.
