Turkey was the leader in rental prices growth in 2022

According to the results of the last year, 2022, Turkey was the first of 56 states that were assessed by the growth of rental rates. This was reported by the Aydınlık portal, referring to the statistics it received from the international analytical company Knight Frank.

So, in 2022, on average in Turkey, rental prices increased by 160.6%. Moreover, in a number of cities and especially popular areas, this indicator is much higher.

In addition to the Republic of Turkey, Slovakia (an increase of 25.5%), the Czech Republic (23.5%), Iceland (22.9%) and Estonia (21%) were also among the five countries with the highest rental growth. But all of them, as you can see, are very far from Turkey in this sense.

The head of the Turkish Chamber of Realtors Nizametdin Asha recalled that the rapid growth of rental rates began around 2018. This was partly affected by the fact that for a number of years, development focused on the construction of primarily elite residential real estate.

So, the stakes were somewhat «inflated»; well, this process was pushed even more by the events of the year, when immigrants poured into Turkey, and in particular to the Antalya coast.

TASS writes with reference to industry representatives that in Antalya, the average rental price in 2022 increased from $200-600 per month to $2,000; according to our sources, this figure is slightly lower - just over $1,200 - but still. In Istanbul, the monthly rental of a residence, even the most modest, already reaches $1,500-2,000. Despite the fact that in the summer the «threshold» for raising rental rates for long-term contracts was limited to 25% per year, by the new year many homeowners demanded an increase in tariffs.

Recall that Turkey is now the record holder in Europe in terms of the number of housing transactions.
