Demand for the app "from the earthquake" in Istanbul has increased 15 times

A huge increase in users of the Depreme Yenilme Mobil Uygulaması mobile application (an express test for checking buildings for resistance to tremors) was recorded in the largest Turkish metropolis.

The Directorate of the Istanbul Municipality Urban Transformation Department (IBB) launched this application about eight months ago together with BIMTAS. Thanks to the application, residents of the city can learn about the condition of their buildings for free and, accordingly, take precautions.

The mechanism is such that the application forms a kind of "forecast" of vulnerability and durability of city buildings in a few minutes based on the data available to the municipality about buildings in a particular area. To do this, you need to upload the address (select a location on the map), specify the "age" of the house, the number of floors and the type of construction: for example, brick, reinforced concrete, steel.

As a result, the house receives a "score" in the range from 0 to 4. A score of 2 or lower indicates that the building is in a high-risk situation. 2 and higher informs about a less risky condition.

As part of the information provided, the result of an instant and free analysis is sent to the user's email address. However, it is clarified that the result is not official - only approximate: to determine the true seismic resistance of the structure, an extended analysis based on more detailed information is needed.

Earlier it was reported that the company "My New Home" also "suffered" from an earthquake with an epicenter in Kahramanmarash. The number of payments for insurance against aftershocks was also announced.
