The demand for housing in Turkey fell by 30% after the earthquake

After the recent sad events, the demand for Turkish real estate has fallen by 30%. At the same time, the share of customers who want to move for permanent residence remains high even despite recent events, Barnes International Moscow reported.

The number of requests for the purchase of real estate in Turkey from Russian clients has sharply decreased after a series of earthquakes in early February. As a result, the indicators of transactions over the past two weeks are 30% lower than in the previous three months.

Nevertheless, Russians will continue to purchase residential real estate in the Republic of Turkey. "Moreover, the structure of demand will develop in all planes: the growth of the average check, new locations, the formation of a community, said Denis Perkovsky, head of the Department of foreign real estate at Barnes International Moscow. "At the time of the earthquake, the Russian demand for real estate in Turkey was fully formed, it is already comparable to the demand for housing in Europe until February 2022."

Experts are confident that in 2023 the demand for and, as a result, the cost of houses with increased seismic resistance will increase. But buildings older than 25-30 years, on the contrary, will lose in demand and price.

Also, a clear preference is already being given to low-rise buildings.

Recall that in Istanbul, buildings are being evaluated for earthquake resistance for free, and at the request of both residential property owners and tenants.
