Rental prices in Turkey do not seem to be going to stop growing, despite the fact that the authorities promised to take this situation under control immediately after the elections. So, the population of the country, which does not have its own housing and meets the needs for it by renting apartments and houses, found itself in a very difficult situation due to an increase in rental rates.
In particular, in some areas of Istanbul - one of the most expensive cities in terms of rent - those who receive only the minimum wage are no longer able to rent not only a normal residence, but even a ramshackle one. For the vast majority of employees, a very significant part goes to pay for rented housing.
Moreover, the restriction on rent increases of 25% per year, which was announced last summer - and will be extended this summer - has not become a panacea. It was not enough to solve the housing crisis. Landlords who do not want to lose money continue to try by any means to terminate the contract, thereby evicting the tenants from the house, and find another tenant - already at a higher rate, since there are no restrictions on newly concluded contracts at the top price.
Well, recently it became known that some landlords have already begun to conclude 6-month contracts instead of the standard annual terms - with the same goals: to make the task easier for themselves. And, if necessary, change tenants every six months to "those that are more expensive".
This, according to real estate market experts, has already turned into a separate problem for the country. TurkEstate will continue to monitor developments.
