The Republic of Turkey implements innovative solutions for the transport sector not only in the country or its region, but also around the world. For example, a tram line was tested, which was laid directly to the city hospital in Kocaeli (near Istanbul). This solution is made to facilitate the transportation of both patients and visitors, which is crucial during rush hours.
According to representatives of the metropolitan municipality, during the first test drive conducted by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, this route runs from the bus station to the Kocaeli City Hospital. To simulate passengers on a tram, it was loaded with sandbags based on the total capacity of the tram cars. And the indicators were tested.
It will be a three-kilometre-long line with five stations. The infrastructure work is nearing completion. Once the test is completed, the new route to the hospital will be put into operation.
Another major transport news is that a new branch of the Istanbul Metro has recently been opened, which connects the European area on the Bosphorus with the airport. Another important and long-awaited branch is expected to be launched at the end of February: the Bakırköy- Kirazlı Metro Line.
