Galatasaray Island will become accessible to the people

A new zoning plan has been prepared for the territory popularly known as "Galatasaray Island". This island is located 165 meters from the Kurucheshme coastal zone of the Bosphorus Strait in Istanbul. After adjustments in planning, Galatasaray Island was designated a "Private Social Zone and public swimming Pool". The Treasury has ownership of the island, as well as the Galatasaray Sports Club - one of the most famous in the country.

The zoning plan was prepared by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. The goal was, among other things, to revise the ratio of useful and empty areas on the island, in a nutshell – to "return" the inactive island to the public.

Now the previously closed areas have moved to open access: the areas of public territories have been noticeably increased, and the building area has been reduced. 5 150 square meters belonging to the structure "public swimming pool and private social zone" have been revised: now there will also be a public pier with an area of 2 000 square meters.

Also, according to the updated zoning plan, there will be sports grounds, a swimming pool, a terrace, a roof garden, entertainment areas, a kind of food court, a restaurant, venues for concerts and events, shopping areas; as well as a previously dismantled "winter garden". Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ruled by a recent decision that Galatasaray Island is located within the Marmara Sea and the so-called "Special Nature Protection Zone of the Islands". For this reason, it will be "opened" to the people.

Recall that Galatasaray Island remained a "stumbling block" for many years. In 2017, the Istanbul Municipality demolished illegal buildings here; the trial of the "eviction" of private structures that illegally took possession of public property lasted for many years. While he was walking, the island had already fallen into disrepair in the sense of the benefits that it could bring to local residents and tourists. However, last year the Galatasaray club still won the case and undertook to build up the island, gradually putting it into operation.

From other real estate news of the largest Turkish metropolis: Sales of residences within the framework of the Pierre Loti Mansions project, overlooking the Golden Horn Bay, have started. And more recently it became known about the sale of a landmark mansion - the house of Mehmet Emin Aga in Kanlydzha.
