Housing sales to foreigners in September decreased by 23.8% compared to the same month last year and amounted to 5,049 units. The slowdown in the pace of residential real estate sales was partly affected by the increase in the financial threshold for «accelerated citizenship» from $250,000 to $400,000.
The Russians, who previously ranked third after the Iranians and Iraqis in the number of monthly transactions, «knocked out» the championship in April and still hold it. As for the comparison of indicators for 12 months, in September 2021, citizens of the Russian Federation purchased 540 units of residential real estate in Turkey, in September 2022 – 1,196: an increase of more than twice. If we take the data in the context of the first three quarters (9 months) of the year, the number of transactions of Russians on the purchase of housing in Turkey increased by 199% compared to the same period in 2,021 and reached 9,311 units.
Our compatriots are followed by Iranians (6,540 purchases in January-September), Iraqis (5,255 transactions), Germans (2,058) and Kazakhs, with a minimum lag behind German citizens (2,045). A lot of lots were also sold to Ukrainians, whose interest in Turkish real estate has increased due to the armed conflict with the Russian Federation: 1,775 housing units were purchased in three quarters.
In general, in January-September, sales to foreigners increased by 32.5% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 49,644 sold lots.
On average, that is, for all categories of residential real estate - the volume of transactions for nine months increased by about 11%.
