"The elections are over — new taxes or their increase are coming," the Turkish media exaggerate the painful topic. Another tax hike is expected in the country: it is inevitable due to inflation. However, there are rumors about a new real estate tax, for example, an increased tax on valuable housing: the authorities plan to collect TL 115 million in 2024 as tax payments in this category alone.
In addition, a two-year ban on increasing rental rates for long-term contracts by over 25% is expected to end in the summer. Unfortunately, many homeowners tried to avoid it as much as they could. So, the Turkish National Assembly will have to take measures for unregistered payments as well.
Furthermore, various possibilities were considered such as imposing higher taxes on vacant properties and regulating the use of "free" lodging in the empty homes of distant family members of the property owners.
