As usual, in Friday's digest we talk about what has especially attracted attention in the news feeds of the relevant Turkish media over the past seven days.
The most important topic for discussion was the rental of housing and the nuances and difficulties associated with it: it overshadowed, perhaps, all the others.
No wonder: the authorities promised to restrain the growth of rents, but it did not quite succeed. Although the rule «no more than 25% increase» is still valid for renegotiated annual contracts.
And while the authorities have not undertaken to strictly regulate rental rates, the owners of apartments and houses are «squeezing» everything they can out of them. In particular, those who have summer houses (like our dachas) move there permanently to rent out their «winter» housing, preferably at exorbitant prices.
The authorities continue to make efforts to solve the «housing problem». Thus, the poor will soon be offered either low-cost social housing or preferential apartments in addition to programs from the Department of Mass Housing Construction. By the way, now the action from the Management is going on in Alanya.
You can also try to buy out budget office housing, the so-called lozhmans: they are now being sold all over the country.
The happy owners of their own apartments and houses, however, also had more troubles: aidat soared to the skies - a monthly amount for the maintenance of a house or a residential complex. In some places it has grown to 900 TL, but even a little over a year ago it was possible to rent a modest residence for this amount; the tenants are protesting.
We will mention the villa complex in Sile (near Istanbul).
