The climate in Turkey varies from region to region. In the central part, it is a continental climate with warm and dry summers and cold winters. The average temperature in summer is about 25-30 degrees and in winter the temperature is -15 degrees. Such contrast can be explained by the fact that this region is framed by the mountains and the warm air from the sea cannot reach this region. Here you can see snow almost four months a year.

The coastal parts of the country washed by the Black Sea, the Mediterranean, the Aegean and the Sea of Marmara have almost the same climate: hot summers and mild winters with average temperatures of 28 and 7 degrees. The difference is that in some regions the rainfall is rather high. These regions are the Black Sea and the Aegean coast.

WEATHER IN ANKARA

Ankara, the capital of the country, is located in the center of Turkey in the northern part of the Anatolian plateau. The weather in Ankara in summer is hot. The average temperature is about 30 degrees. The warmest months are July and August. The summer is not only hot but also dry. The driest months are July and August. And the wettest months are May, January and December. The average number of rainy days in these months are about 11-13 days. The winters are quite cold in Ankara. The average temperature in winter is -5 degrees. The coolest month is January. The average temperature is -7 degrees but sometimes it can reach -15 degrees.

WEATHER IN ISTANBUL

Istanbul is the biggest city in Turkey and it is one of the most popular tourist destinations. Every year it attracts plenty of tourists from all over the world with its rich history, significant architecture and its delicious cuisine. There are hundreds of high-class restaurants and cozy cafes across the city. The climate in Istanbul is a mixture of the Mediterranean and humid subtropical climate. The summer in this city is rather hot. The average temperature is about 25-28 degrees. For some tourists, summer is not the best time to travel to Istanbul. The high level of humidity can be quite exhausting. And the best time to visit this city is April or May when you can enjoy the beauty of spring in Istanbul with its comfortable weather. The weather in September and October is warm and comfortable. And the winter in Istanbul is mild. The temperature in winter varies from 6-8 degrees on average. But the constant rain, high level of humidity and chilly wind from the sea can spoil your holidays. Going on holidays in winter, don't forget to take a coat or a warm jacket and raincoat.
