The President of the Russian Federation signed a critical signature for the project, emphasizing the importance of the construction of the Akkuyu NPP.
It should be clarified that the agreement on work on the project on the first power plant in Turkey, signed between the Turkish company IC Içtaş and the Russian side, was terminated on July 26 due to disagreements. The construction of the Akkuyu NPP, as announced, will be continued by a new company created by three Russian partners: the company was named TSM Energy.
However, IC Içtaş tried to challenge this decision, which required the intervention of the authorities; as a result, after her protest, high-level negotiations began between the two countries.
Recall that the first reactor of four at the Akkuyu NPP was planned to be put into operation in 2023. The political conflict between Russia and Ukraine caused some concerns about the future of the power plant, but it was promised that there would be no disruption of the project.
And the other day, Vladimir Putin once again confirmed the intentions of the Russian Federation regarding the Akkuyu NPP, which will give a powerful impetus to the development of the entire province of Mersin. Not only as an industrial cluster on its territory, but also as a resort, and as a region in demand in terms of living.
Its own airport is already being completed here, a metro is planned; a hobby garden has already been opened.
