Construction costs in Turkey will reach $1 trillion

Construction costs in Turkey are expected to reach $1 trillion. This amount increased due to the damage caused by the earthquake with an epicenter in Kahramanmarash in early February 2023. So now, in addition to restoring the destroyed housing stock, we have to pay much more attention to the earthquake resistance of buildings.

Experts Kain Gayrimenkul report: really strong houses are not so easily damaged by earthquakes and "pass" them in most cases with minor damage that does not interfere with the further operation of buildings: "There are factors that need to be optimized to increase the seismic resistance of houses. The most important of them is the use of high-quality building materials and the use of the right technologies. Buildings should be symmetrical, vertical and horizontal loads should be distributed evenly, columns and walls of the building should be properly planned, and the "nodes" of structural connections should be reinforced".

From now on, according to experts Kain Gayrimenkul, "...the main responsibility of developers is the construction of houses that meet the requirements of earthquake resistance." And here the costs are secondary: safety comes first.

Recently it became known that in 2023 - only in the first five months - Turkish contractors managed to implement projects worth $6.5 billion abroad.
