The authorities promised to take rent rates under control after the elections

While everyone is looking forward to the second round of the presidential elections in Turkey, important messages are coming from the government wing.

One of the biggest problems in the economy over the past year has been rental rates, which have become exorbitant. Despite the fact that the government made a number of statements about this when it was in office, promising to regulate tariffs for food, they have not decreased. Moreover, they haven't even stopped growing.

However, now the "top" still promised to tackle this issue properly. In particular, the annual maximum "ceiling" for rent increases should be centrally regulated; as we remember, it will be extended after July 1, 2023.

Now it is kept at the level of 25%, but it can be expanded (adjusted) at the local level, taking into account the specifics of a particular province. In particular, it was suggested that in the same Mugla with its resorts it could be 30% or so. The nuances of buildings will also be taken into account - their more precise location, "age" (year of construction), etc.

Also, as Emlakkulisi writes, rental rates for at least some types of property - in particular, within the framework of social housing projects - will be set "from above", that is, by state agencies. So that the rental costs, which occupy an important place in the structure of expenses of low-income citizens, do not hit their pockets so much - and they have already become, taking into account the salaries of civil servants, exorbitant. Moreover: today, even foreigners who have moved to Turkey for a long time, who previously considered it, taking into account European salaries, pleasantly low, consider the rent too high.

Ideally, the amount for rent should not exceed a certain percentage of the total income of the family; but this, admittedly, is still far away. To begin with, it will be necessary to make sure that the owners (landlords) do not try to squeeze double or triple benefits out of the existing housing, taking advantage of the political and economic situation.

Just the other day it was reported that rental payments in the earthquake-affected provinces have already been canceled for a period of three months.
