Real estate in Turkey: the main news of the past week – February 4-10

The main array of publications in the Turkish media regarding real estate all week concerned the devastating earthquake in the south-east of Turkey, which happened a few days ago. So once again we draw the attention of home buyers to the importance of acquiring new buildings from serious developers, and if we are talking about secondary real estate, then the house must be built later than 2,000, and comply with all regulations and have insurance against an earthquake DASK. Since, as it became known, the bulk of the buildings that collapsed the other day were still not earthquake-resistant or did not meet the mandatory requirements.

From the rest of the news: a number of information guides concerning preferential programs or nuances of interaction between the developer and the buyer or the tenant and the landlord deserve attention. So, the preferential program is planned to be expanded to secondary housing, although the details have not yet been announced. Housing loans within the framework of the urban transformation project that has covered the whole of Turkey are supposed to be restructured - for those citizens who prefer to strengthen their own homes themselves and bring them into compliance with the norms.

The number of subsidies for rent payments in large cities has been clarified: taking into account the «price bubble» in the rental market, rental tariffs have become unbearable for many. So, the authorities promised citizens to partially subsidize the rent.

Well, it is better for those who do not comply with the laws to be on their guard: those who want to cash in on «My First Home» program and those who have applied, despite the fact that the applicant does not meet the requirements, risk getting a fine. As well as homeowners or real estate companies, who, when renting out real estate, undertook to arrange auctions in order to provide residences to those who are willing to pay the most.
