Real estate in Turkey: the main news of the past week – December 17-23

A selection of the most relevant information guides of the real estate market of the Republic of Turkey is in our weekly digest.

The most significant news last week related mainly to the categories of newly received statistics, as well as to the social sphere.

The first 50,000 holders of preferential residences have been identified under the program "My first home, my first workplace"; recall, this is the largest campaign in many years. The lucky ones were chosen by drawing lots.

Turkish citizens, however, suspected that some of the apartments could go to foreigners (for example, refugees) - a publication that slipped into the media provoked these rumors - but the authorities categorically denied such information.

The issue of housing for those who cannot afford to buy real estate at full cost remains extremely relevant; rent continues to rise in price, and besides, landlords insist on a New Year's "increase".

But financial and other processes in the housing rental market will soon become more transparent, because the rental of apartments and houses will soon be transferred to an electronic format - to the already existing state e-devlet system.

As for the statistics received the other day, the citizens of the Russian Federation have once again confirmed their "leadership" in terms of the volume of monthly home purchases. They were followed in November by citizens of Iran, Iraq and Ukraine.

Turkish developers, on the other hand, continue to be in great demand as specialists: Construction companies of the Republic of Turkey have implemented projects worth about $10 billion abroad in 11 months of 2022.
