Real estate in Turkey: the main news of the past week – October 15-21

Tonight, we present another digest of the most interesting events in the Turkish development and construction market over the past seven days.

Several news directly relate to Russians already living in Turkey from among those who rent or buy real estate or those who are just going to buy it with an eye to moving (and there are a lot of them: Antalya turned out to be so crowded that there are no free places in apartment hotels).

Firstly, the recent rumors about the cancellation of a tourist residence permit are unfounded.

Secondly, Russians who have been deprived of the opportunity to use Visa and Mastercard bank cards for several months have been provided with new opportunities for everyday payments (alas, this option is not yet available to tourists).

Thirdly, those who preferred the Antalya coast and, in particular, the resort of Alanya, will be pleased with the rapidly developing transport and social structure of the city: a few days ago, a Therapeutic Park unique to the region was opened here.

Citizens of the Russian Federation, by the way, have been leading for months in terms of the volume of apartments and houses purchased in Turkey (from all countries). In general, during the first and third quarters of 2022, the number of residential real estate transactions increased by an average of 11%, although this indicator varies markedly across different segments.

There were three more significant news related to the market as a whole:

from 2023, the size of the real estate commission will change (the reasons are here);

a state support campaign for the purchase of factory houses has been announced;

The Turkish President announced the expropriation of a number of real estate objects, which will be modified to create other objects that are more significant for the country at the moment.
