The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has officially announced that it will provide Fraport TAV Antalya Investment, Construction and Operations (FTA) with financing in the amount of 140 million euros for investments in the airport in Antalya.
This amount will make it possible to complete the construction of a new airport infrastructure, increase energy efficiency and implement "environmentally friendly" initiatives such as the installation of a local solar power plant and solar-powered panels.
Which, in turn, will contribute to increasing the capacity of Antalya airport, which is a key transport hub for travelers from all over the world in the summer season: after all, most of them arrive in Antalya, from where they then go to the resorts of Antalya, Alanya, Side, Belek, Kemer and others. The airports of Dalaman (the resorts of Marmaris, Fethiye, Gejek) and Milas (the resort of Bodrum) account for much less tourist passenger traffic.
However, Gazipasa Airport, which became an international airport a few years ago - which is closest to Alanya - is also gaining momentum.
As for not only the tourist "load", then Istanbul airports are the undisputed leader: passenger traffic through the air hubs of the largest Turkish metropolis is approaching one hundred million.
