The number of Turkish provinces may increase

A list of 12 territorial divisions has been announced, which are expected to become separate provinces soon. Namely, after the presidential elections of 2023, writes Emlak365.

The popular resort of Alanya in this sense has long been on the agenda; and here are more districts that can gain independence. We also specify their population:

Nazilli – 160 581;

Bodrum – 187 284;

Tarsus – 347 284;

Silopi – 141621;

Inegel – 286,848;

Bandyrma – 161,894;

Ceyhan – 159,955;

Polatly – 127 526;

Yuksekova – 119 194;

Eregli – 149,333;

Alanya – 350,636;

Chorlu – 284,907.

In addition to the number of residents, other factors and specific characteristics of districts are taken into account. For example, Bodrum, which has less than 190 thousand permanent population, is of particular importance as a tourist center, and in summer the number of people there exceeds one million. In addition, almost 20% of housing there is bought by foreigners.

Disputes continue over several districts that were not included in the list, like Cizre; residents of Cizre are now actively defending their right to «stand out» as an independent province.
