Every fifth foreign property was built by Turkish builders in the Russian Federation

In January-March 2023, the Turkish contracting sector carried out works outside the country totaling $4.1 billion. Having managed to implement a total of 52 projects on the territory of other states in the first quarter of the year.

To clarify, over the past 50 years - the period when statistics on this issue are being kept - local contractors have built 11,700 different projects outside Turkey. The average cost of one project is $77.9 million.

The Turks built the most projects in Turkmenistan and Russia in 2023. However, if you look at the cross-section over the past half century, the Russian Federation ranks first in terms of the number of projects implemented here by Turkish contractors. In fact, every 5th property built by them abroad is implemented in the Russian Federation.

Most of all abroad, developers from Turkey are building residential buildings; as well as roads, tunnels and bridges. Shopping malls are also in demand ($34.7 billion worth of facilities have been built here), business centers and especially airports ($30.7 billion).

Recall that the passenger flow through Istanbul's air hubs alone - the New Airport on the European side and Sabiha Gokcen on the Asian side - exceeded 95 million people in 2022. And thanks to the laying of metro lines to both airports, housing along this route is noticeably more expensive.
