The real estate price index rose by more than 150%

According to the newly announced data, the housing price index in Turkey increased by 6.9% month-on-month and by 153.1% year-on-year.

 

These are statistics on January reports; in December, the increase compared to the previous month was 5.3%, and for the year - 167.8%.

 

During the analysis of changes in the Housing Price Index in the three largest cities - Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir - in December 2022 in Istanbul, there is an increase of 4.7%, 4.6% and 4.2%, respectively. Recall that over the past year, the mentioned index grew by 174.2% in Istanbul, by 172.7% in Ankara and by 168.3% in Izmir. 

 

Despite the continuing rise in housing prices, both locals and foreigners continue to actively buy it. In particular, Istanbul accounted for 18% of the total number of residential real estate transactions across the country in January 2023.
