Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Vahit Kirishchi said that the recent strong tremors in 11 provinces cost the economy $105 billion.
This includes both construction equipment and vehicles, thousands of units of which were transferred for a certain period to the needs of citizens who are trying to put their houses in order or have undertaken to build their own housing.
First, tents appeared in the affected areas as a temporary "roof over your head", then container "cities". Now, the minister explained, it is already possible to talk about permanent housing.
Vahit Kirishchi also gave some information about the houses under construction: for example, about 72,500 lots for permanent residence are already being built in the central districts, and 30,180 village houses are being built in rural areas. 848 TOKI tenders were held for these projects; construction projects that have already started are underway, and procedures for laying the foundation of future buildings are continuing in all new places.
Earlier, we reported on the start of construction of 13,500 village houses in earthquake-affected areas. Much earlier, the restoration of 200 000 residences began, which could be put in order due to the fact that the buildings themselves stood.
