Three more new airports will open soon in Turkey

The Republic of Turkey adheres to plans to open its own airports in every major city. And now the expected opening dates of three new air hubs have been announced, which will begin serving passengers in 2022-2023.

They will be the airports of Chukurov, Bayburt-Gumushkhane and Yozgat.

Chukurov Airport, the base for which has already been laid in the Tarsus (Mersin) area, is expected to become the fourth largest airport in Turkey when it is finally handed over.

Construction is in full swing; moreover, the work is nearing completion. The giant project should be put into operation by the end of this year – 2022.

This air hub will be able to serve many cities in the Mediterranean region, primarily the provinces of Merin and Adana.

The opening of Yozgat Airport (in the Deremumlu-Fakibeyli area) is scheduled for the end of 2023.

As for Bayburt-Gyumyushkhane airport (Kese district; the investment cost of the project is 987 million TL), it will open its doors to passengers, and runways for aircraft presumably in the first quarter of 2023 (until the end of March).

Recall that the volume of air traffic in Turkey is growing day by day. Passenger traffic by the end of 2021 reached almost 1.5 million people (1,461,577 residential units), despite the pandemic. The New Airport (Istanbul) regularly becomes a record holder in terms of the volume of flights carried out throughout Europe.
