Turkey to build and open 39 shopping centres by 2023

By 2023, 39 new shopping centers will have been launched in Turkey. This news has been announced by Doctor of Science, Professor Husein Altash, who heads the Association of Shopping Centers and Investors of Turkey (AYD). Now there are 436 shopping centers in the Republic, and by 2023 there will be 475 of them. The flow of investments in this area of commercial real estate in Turkey is not expected, because, according to the expert, the needs of society in city malls are already fully satisfied.

In May and June 2020, shopping centers (as, indeed, almost all commercial real estate in Turkey) were closed as part of quarantine measures, but on May 11, some of them opened, and on June 1, all shopping centers in Turkey returned to work. And today their work is proceeding according to new safety rules: social distance, masks, hygiene rules. At the entrances to city malls, visitors are measured the temperature, masks are given out for free, and visitors can treat their hands with a disinfectant for free.

In June, shopping centres in Turkey received a total of about 3 million buyers per day, in July - already about 4 million, forecasts for August - 4.5 million buyers per day. According to Professor Altash, shopping centers (unlike street shops and bazaars) really ensure the safety of trade.
