Details of the project for the construction of social housing will be announced in September

In the middle of next month, namely, on September 13, 2022, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan plans to announce details regarding the provision of «social» apartments for people with low incomes, in particular, the most vulnerable groups of the population: pensioners, disabled people, etc.

Also, citizens receiving the minimum wage will be able to count on social residences if certain requirements are met.

This was announced by the Minister of Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum. He also explained that the houses will be built in all provinces of the country, and from environmentally friendly materials, as well as according to projects whose design will «fit» into the environment – the area where these buildings will be located.

The collection of applications for such social housing has already been started by the governors. According to forecasts, in the foreseeable future, the number of such residences provided to low-income citizens will reach 200,000.

So low-income citizens who do not currently own their own residences or shares in some housing will get a «roof over their heads» with a minimum entry fee – about 10% of the cost of housing, which will obviously be very low – and more than affordable installments for up to 20 years.

All applicants who have managed to comply with the conditions and submit an application will be eligible to participate in the lottery. However, some categories, such as veterans, military, etc., will be provided with special quotas.

The most common format of the provided residences will be 2+1 and 3+1, but the prices for them have not yet been announced.

Another good news of recent weeks for those who do not have their own homes is that the process of normalizing rental rates in Turkey has finally begun.
