0.2 million residences in Bursa are considered risky

AFAD, analyzing the state of the housing stock in Bursa, released a report with not the most joyful figures. Bursa, the fourth largest metropolis in Turkey, is geographically located near the junction of tectonic plates; according to the results of the inspection, it turned out that about 200 thousand residential units (houses and apartments) in Bursa are risky.

After the earthquake that occurred in Kahramanmarash and caused great destruction in a total of 11 provinces, earthquake research across Turkey gained momentum. AFAD prepares reports on its activity profile one by one; and has clarified active fault lines in this province. These are the Iznik-Mekedje, Gemlik, Genchali, Zeitinbagi faults, Inegel fault zone, Oylat, Bursa, Ulubat, Mustafakemalpasha, Orhaneli, Uludag, Barakfaki, Kaymakoba and Karadzhabey faults.

Since there are 0.2 million housing units built before 2004 on the territory of Bursa, they all fall into the category of risky. And they need strengthening or reconstruction.

In the very near future, the leadership of Bursa plans to take certain steps in this direction.

Moreover, Bursa is considered one of the most convenient cities to live in Turkey; and this province is a popular destination for investors in the sense of buying residential real estate. In particular, the Nilufer district is gaining popularity.
