Landmark mansion in Istanbul sells for 0.3 billion

The famous mansion on the Bosphorus is for sale for 330 million Turkish lira (TL).

This is the house of Mehmet Emin Aga in Kanlydzha: a historic building is looking for a new owner.

Kanlija district is considered one of the most attractive locations in Istanbul; its «highlight» is the beautiful view of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge.

The mansion, a red-colored house that invariably attracts the attention of tourists, was built in 1846 and named after the first owner (Mehmet Emin Agha), one of the henchmen of Sultan Mahmut I and a very famous philanthropist at that time. The house survived a fire; in 2013, work began on its restoration, and in 2017 it acquired its current appearance.

In the mansion of Mehmet Emin Agi, who also has his own 20-meter-long pier, many TV series were filmed and a number of exhibitions were held. In 2022, it was already put up for sale for $25 million, but there was no buyer for this amount. So now the owners have decided to reduce the price to $17.5 million: at the exchange rate today, this amount is approximately 330 million TL.

Famous Istanbul mansions are very popular with cinematographers: periodically local media publish news that one or the other is «reserved» for the filming of TV series. Last year, for example, the amount for the lease of the Beylerbey mansion was 0.6 million TL.
