For those who decide to strengthen or rebuild their own housing themselves, the authorities will offer a loan package, according to which the loan will be, in fact, "free" for two years in a row. The amount will be 1.25 million Turkish lira (TL), which is equivalent to the cost of a decent apartment with an area of 100 square meters.
Such a "loan for urban transformation" was initiated by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance in order to provide a roof over the heads of earthquake victims as soon as possible. "We have prepared a package of long-term loans with low interest rates and a two-year grace period for our citizens in order to accelerate urban transformation," the ministry explained. Calling on citizens, contractors and municipalities to take advantage of this preferential offer, since this "two-year free loan" will be available not only to individuals, but also to organizations. And not only in Istanbul (like a number of other actions operating only in the largest Turkish metropolis), but throughout the country.
Recall that the restoration of 200 000 damaged residences has already started. It was also announced to receive an additional subsidy from the state in the amount of 0.3 million TL for the construction of their own housing - and this amount does not need to be returned: it is not a loan.
