Over the past five years, 6, 944,616 residential real estate objects have been sold in Turkey, of which 154,871 objects were purchased by foreign buyers. These figures have been given by the Emlak Kulisi newspaper with reference to the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜIK). According to the published stats, all property transactions in Turkey from September 2015 to August 2020 were taken into account.
The five-year real estate sales leaders were:
- Istanbul (1,199,715 objects);
- Ankara (720,124 objects);
- Izmir (412,588 objects);
- Antalya (313,735 objects);
- Bursa (265,715 objects).
The largest number of sales was recorded in 2017: 1,409,314 objects. The statistics for other years in a given period looks like this:
- 2015 - 1,289,320 objects;
- 2016 - 1,341,453 objects;
- 2018 - 1,375,398 objects;
- 2019 - 1,348,729 objects.
As for 2020, the number of houses and apartments sold in Turkey amounted to 1,024,534 objects in the first eight months.
