Villas in Izmir rise by 150 thousand TL per day after the earthquake

Demand for low-rise houses and villas in Izmir has skyrocketed since the devastating earthquake struck in the Turkish province of Izmir on October 30. Experts of the Turkish real estate market note that some properties have been rising in price by 150,000 TL a day: today a villa costs 850,000 TL, the next day - already 1 million TL. Houses built before 2010 are in the greatest demand. Emlak Kulisi, a construction and real estate newspaper in Turkey, expects that the price increase will continue in the near future in the cities of Urla, Cesme and Sasali. The newspaper also notes that most of the residents whose homes were damaged by the earthquake in Izmir are moving today to Manisa and the nearby towns.

Which regions of Turkey are the least earthquake-prone? The Anatolian region is one of the safest regions in Turkey. That is why many foreigners buy apartments in Antalya and other cities along the Mediterranean coast.
