About 1.5 million foreigners live in Turkey, third of them in their own apartment or house

Over the past five years, 148,996 houses have been sold to foreigners in Turkey. Turkish specialized media published statistics on the interest of foreigners in Turkey's real estate: citizens of 145 countries have bought 148,996 apartments and houses over the past five years. The largest number of buyers turned out to be residents of Iraq. Representatives of construction companies and real estate agencies in Turkey stated that despite the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, there is a growing interest of European investors in Turkish housing. Europeans are attracted by fact that it is easy to access Turkey by land.

The leaders of Turkish sales of apartments and houses to foreigners over the past five years have become: Istanbul (63,969 objects), Antalya (30,326 objects), Bursa (8,760 objects), Ankara (6,916 objects) and Yalova (5,53 object). According to statistics, the average cost of housing sold to foreign residents was 550,000 lira.

Today, about 1.5 million foreigners have received a residence permit in Turkey. Considering that a family of at least three people lives in every apartment bought in Turkey (and they all receive a residence permit), about 540,000 foreign residents live in Turkey in their own apartment or house.
