Turkey continues its transformation into a country of parks and gardens. The Minister of Environment and Urban Development of Turkey, Murat Kurum, told reporters that public gardens are being developed in 77 provinces, the total area of new public green spaces will be 50 million square meters.
Murat Kurum: “In 2018, our President announced that public gardens with a total area of 81 million square meters would be built in 81 provinces of the country. The program will have been implemented by 2023 and will be an important step towards improving the quality of life of Turkey's residents."
Three thousand kilometers of bike paths and thousands of kilometers of footpaths will connect all the public gardens in Turkey from north to south and from east to west. According to the authorities, the new united green space will help people more easily endure the restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
