TOP-20 countries whose citizens bought a house in Turkey in May

TOP-20 countries whose citizens bought a house in Turkey in May

Although real estate sales to foreigners in May decreased by 46.9% compared to the same month last year (3,167 units), it is still significantly more than in April, when 2,557 transactions were recorded. Here we can talk about the beginning of the implementation of deferred demand, which analysts mentioned a little earlier: foreign investors, like local residents, were waiting for the outcome of the presidential election.

Anyway, in May, the share of housing sales to foreigners in the total volume of transactions for the month was 2.8%. Antalya is in the first place with 1,245 deals, Istanbul is in the second with 934 deals, and Mersin is in the third with 249 sales.

As for the citizenship of buyers, then, as in the last year and a quarter, Russians are in the lead: Next - Iranians, Ukrainians and Germans. Interestingly, Iraq was on the fourth line: after all, until February 2022, Iran and Iraq were consistently leading in terms of home purchases in Turkey. Another interesting change in the ranking is that Bosnia-Herzegovina got into TOP-20 almost for the first time.
