Housing prices in Turkey increase by 14.4 percent within six months

The Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK) has released data on real estate sales for the first half of 2020. Compared to the period from January to June 2019, the number of transactions with residential real estate increased by 23.5 percent and amounted to 624,374 objects. The share of mortgage sales reached 43 percent and this figure continues to grow. Thanks to the new mortgage campaign that affected the whole country, house prices in the first half of 2020 increased by 14.4 percent compared to the same period in 2019. As of the end of June, the average price per square meter of housing in Turkey was 2,434 lira, and the average cost of an apartment was 313,986 lira. And the return on property investment today is 18 years.

The maximum number of home sales in the first half of 2020 was recorded in the largest cities in Turkey: first place - Istanbul (15.2 percent), second - Ankara (11.5 percent), third - Izmir (6.2 percent).
