The size of the quota for social housing for young people became known

The Department of Mass Housing Construction (TOKI), which plans to provide cheap housing to needy residents in 81 provinces at once, continues to talk about the nuances of providing a roof over their heads to certain categories of socially unprotected citizens.

The key points should be announced today, September 13, 2022, by the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

We have already told you that households (families) whose total income is less than 16,000 TL (TL) for Istanbul province and less than 14,000 TL for other provinces will be able to apply for social housing.

Now it has become known that 20% of such housing will be allocated specifically for young people under the age of 30; more precisely, the percentage ratio and age limits will be announced very soon. A quota will also be opened for pensioners, veterans, disabled people, etc.

All residences will be built taking into account the specifics of the area on which they are being built, with an emphasis on horizontal architecture. In addition, they are planned to be as energy efficient and environmentally friendly as possible. If possible, the housing will use renewable energy and have the characteristic of «zero» environmental waste.

As for those who will eventually get housing, citizens who meet the announced requirements will be able to apply after the announcement of residential projects. Then a draw will be held among the applicants, and thus the beneficiaries – recipients of housing will be determined.

Housing will be cheaper than the standard one, taking into account the state support program. According to preliminary forecasts, those whose income per family is about 15,000 TL or less will pay contributions of 4,500 TL; with incomes of 12,000 TL or less – 3,600 TL, and with incomes of 10,000 TL or less – 3,000 TL, according to the rule of the 30% limit.

If we are talking about working single citizens with a minimum wage, which is currently set at 5,500 TL, then they will be able to become owners of their own social housing, paying contributions of only no more than 1,650 TL monthly.

The repayment period of the debt is within 20 years (240 months).

Recall that housing projects from TOKI are starting in one district after another, all over the country. Currently, preferential housing with a contribution of only 2,250 TL is available in at least 12 provinces.
