Rumors about the cancellation of a tourist residence permit are unfounded

Rumors have spread in Turkey that the authorities are thinking of canceling the tourist residence permit (residence permit), previously granted on the basis of a lease. Under the pretext that its receipt does not correspond to the purposes of tourism. After all, a tourist residence permit was issued, it seems, so that visitors could travel around the country as much as possible, sightseeing and, accordingly, spend as much money as possible, supporting the country's economy.

In fact, many come, rent housing, send their children to kindergartens or to school; and many also try to work illegally, thereby «taking away» places from the local population (and this is really true). So, it's time to cover up the «shop».

As a result, many long-term tenants, not having the right to stay in Turkey for more than 90 days a half-year (depending on the state of which they are citizens), will move out; thereby freeing up a lot of apartments for Turks. That, in turn, will help to regulate prices in the rental housing market.

These rumors have no grounds yet. At least because recently, in connection with the «closure» of more than a thousand districts for obtaining a residence permit by right of ownership (TAPU), their owners began to issue a tourist residence permit. Allowing you to legally stay in the country without restrictions on duration, but not giving you the right to apply for citizenship after 5 years (unless the candidate has no other grounds for obtaining citizenship).

Nevertheless, both home buyers and tenants from among long-term tourists were concerned about these «conversations». According to the results of a survey published by one of the profile Telegram channels about Turkey (Turkish Life), only 17% of respondents answered «yes» to the question: «Would you buy an apartment in Turkey for yourself, knowing that even a tourist residence permit will not be given?» «No», 69% of the survey participants answered; another 14% chose the variant «maybe, but the risks are great».

Earlier we told you that the country has simplified the procedure for notification of a change of address for homeowners.
