The rise in housing prices has reoriented foreigners to buy secondary real estate

Foreigners continue to actively buy apartments and houses in Turkey. And, according to recently obtained statistics on the nature of transactions, investors from abroad are switching from new buildings to secondary real estate.

In particular, CEO of Mars Investment, Hakan Budzhak, told about the observed decrease in the volume of contracts signed in the primary segment. Pointing out that both the record rise in housing prices and the increase in the financial «citizenship limit» have affected a slight decrease in the number of transactions; this is especially felt in the segment of new buildings.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company Fatih Erguven clarified the data, stating that, according to the sales statistics of Mars Investment itself, every three foreigners who purchase a residence in Turkey now prefer secondary real estate. The expert also said that there is a slight decrease in interest from citizens of the Middle East, including the former leader in terms of purchases – Iran; Russia is now considered the most positive (promising in terms of real transactions) market.
